Description

Panoramic fjord views on our most family-friendly hike, back in town in about three hours.

Step off the ship in Nordfjordeid and be on a mountain trail within minutes. This guided hike to Bjørneskarnakken swaps the quay for open, panoramic views over Nordfjord and the surrounding peaks, and has you back in the centre in about three hours, transport included.

What to expect

Transport from the centre of Nordfjordeid to the trailhead is included, so none of your time ashore is spent working out how to get there. From the start it is a 5.2 km round trip with roughly 300 metres of ascent on a marked path: enough to feel like a real Norwegian fjelltur, gentle enough for families with children from about eight and for anyone with everyday walking fitness. At the viewpoint there is time to catch your breath, take photographs and simply look, before an easy walk back down.

Meeting point and timing

Eid Småbåthamn (small-boat harbour), Osvegen 26, a 4-minute walk from the cruise terminal. The vehicle takes us to the trailhead and brings us back to the same spot. Departure times follow the cruise calendar; tell us your ship’s all-aboard time when you book and we plan around it.

Included

  • Local English-speaking guide
  • Round-trip transport between Nordfjordeid centre and the trailhead
  • Small group
  • Trekking poles and child carriers to borrow, free
  • Coffee or tea and a local snack at the viewpoint

Not included

  • Other food and drinks
  • Hiking clothing and footwear

Good to know

Children of all ages are welcome. The age of 8 is a guide: from about then, most children walk the whole hike themselves, and small children can ride in one of our child carriers, free to borrow. Sturdy shoes with grip are required, not sandals or smooth-soled trainers. The hike runs in most weather; it may be shortened or cancelled for safety in high wind or thunder, with a full refund. If your ship does not call at Nordfjordeid, you receive a full refund.

Bring

Waterproof jacket, a warm layer for the viewpoint, water, a snack, and a charged phone.
