Terms & Conditions
Nordfjord Wild
Effective date: 9 September 2026 (last updated 15 October 2026)
These Terms & Conditions apply to activities and services provided by Hipponen Opplevingar, trading as Nordfjord Wild.
Please read these Terms and our Cancellation & Refund Policy before booking. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

References to “Nordfjord Wild”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Hipponen Opplevingar trading as Nordfjord Wild.
2. Scope and applicable conditions
These Terms cover guided hikes, outdoor activities, private tours, custom activities, planned cruise-day departures and separately purchased trip-planning services.
Different conditions for a particular booking apply only if they were clearly disclosed and accepted before the booking became binding, or subsequently expressly agreed by both parties. An invoice or booking confirmation does not by itself introduce new conditions.
Mandatory law takes priority. Subject to any valid booking-specific conditions, our Cancellation & Refund Policy governs cancellation and refund matters, and these Terms govern other aspects of the service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. Acceptance of these Terms does not constitute consent to optional marketing, promotional photography or non-essential tracking.
3. Making a booking
A booking is confirmed when Nordfjord Wild accepts it and the required payment has been completed, or another payment arrangement has been agreed.
The person making the booking must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate booking and contact information.
For group bookings, the person booking must make the activity information, participation requirements, these Terms, the Cancellation & Refund Policy and the Privacy Policy available to the other participants. Each adult participant remains responsible for following activity requirements and guide instructions.
We will provide confirmation of the booking and the applicable contractual information in a form the customer can retain, such as email.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are displayed on the activity or service page or in an agreed quotation. Unless stated otherwise, prices are in Norwegian kroner (NOK). Consumer prices include applicable taxes and compulsory charges. Any optional extras and their prices will be disclosed before they are accepted.
The agreed booking price is the price confirmed when the booking becomes binding. Later price changes do not affect an existing booking unless both parties expressly agree otherwise or correction of an obvious error is legally permitted.
Online payments are currently processed through WooPayments and its payment partners. Any deposit, payment deadline or alternative payment arrangement must be disclosed and agreed for the booking.
5. Activity descriptions and duration
Distances, elevation figures, routes, durations and finishing times are estimates unless expressly described as guaranteed. They can be affected by weather, trail conditions, access, participant pace and safety considerations.
Customers should allow reasonable additional time when arranging onward transport, cruise departures, flights or other commitments. An estimate does not remove our obligation to provide the agreed service with reasonable care and skill.
6. Participant responsibilities
Participants must:
- Read the activity description and participation requirements before booking.
- Choose an activity suitable for their fitness, experience and abilities.
- Provide accurate information relevant to their booking and safe participation.
- Bring the clothing, footwear and equipment stated as required.
- Arrive at the stated meeting point in time for departure.
- Follow reasonable guide instructions and act responsibly towards others.
- Tell us about circumstances that could materially affect safe participation.
If you are unsure whether an injury, health condition, medication or mobility limitation affects your suitability, contact us before the activity. Do not send unnecessary medical history or detailed diagnoses.
We may need to agree suitable arrangements or establish that participation is safe. Where health information is required, its handling is explained in our Privacy Policy.
7. Children and participants under 18
Minimum ages and any additional requirements are stated on the relevant activity page.
Participants under 18 must have the permission and supervision required for the activity. Where a parent or guardian must accompany a child, that adult is responsible for supervising the child and helping them follow instructions. This does not remove Nordfjord Wild’s responsibilities as the activity provider.
The guide may refuse participation where a child or another participant cannot safely undertake the activity.
8. Inherent risks of outdoor activities
Outdoor activities involve risks that cannot be completely eliminated. These can include:
- Slips, trips and falls.
- Uneven, wet, icy, snowy, steep or exposed terrain.
- Falling rocks and other natural hazards.
- Changing weather, temperature and visibility.
- Streams and water crossings.
- Fatigue, injury or illness.
- Delays in obtaining assistance in remote locations.
We assess and manage risks and take reasonable safety measures. Participation is not a waiver of your legal rights or of our responsibility to provide the service with reasonable care and skill.
9. Guide authority and safety decisions
The guide has final operational authority over safety during an activity. The guide may adjust the route, pace, destination, duration, start time or turnaround point where reasonably necessary because of weather, conditions, access, participant ability, emergencies or other safety considerations.
Participants must follow safety decisions even where the consequences for the booking or refund have not yet been resolved.
Reasonable minor adjustments within the agreed nature and difficulty of an activity do not automatically create a right to a full refund. Material changes are addressed in Section 10.
10. Material changes and replacement activities
If, before the activity starts, we propose a change that materially alters its agreed nature, difficulty, duration or timing, we will explain the change. The customer may accept it, choose available rescheduling or decline it and receive a 100% refund for the affected activity.
Whether a replacement is materially different depends on the experience and arrangements agreed, not only its price.
If the customer accepts a replacement activity, we will confirm its applicable price before acceptance. Where that price is lower than the amount paid for the original activity, we will refund the difference. The calculation takes account of the relevant participants, departure and applicable discounts.
Any additional payment for a replacement requires the customer’s express agreement.
If changes become necessary during an activity, the guide may take immediate safety action. Any entitlement to a price reduction or another remedy for a material reduction in the service remains unaffected.
11. Refusal or removal from an activity
The guide may refuse or end a participant’s involvement where participation would create an unacceptable safety risk. Reasons can include:
- Failure to meet the activity’s disclosed fitness or ability requirements.
- Missing or unsuitable required clothing, footwear or equipment.
- Intoxication or impairment.
- Dangerous or disruptive behaviour.
- Failure to follow reasonable safety instructions.
- A condition that makes participation unsafe.
Where refusal or removal results from a participant’s conduct or failure to meet clearly disclosed requirements, no refund is normally due. The illness exception and any mandatory legal rights remain applicable where their conditions are met.
12. Customer cancellations
Unless different cancellation conditions were validly agreed for the booking, the following rules apply to guided activities:
- At least 7 days before the scheduled start: 100% refund.
- Less than 7 days but at least 48 hours before the scheduled start: 50% refund.
- Less than 48 hours before the scheduled start: no refund.
- No-show or arrival too late to participate: no refund.
Seven days means 168 hours. Exactly 48 hours before the start falls within the 50% refund period. Activity times are stated in Norway local time (Europe/Oslo).
Bookings made through a booking platform. If you booked through GetYourGuide, Viator, Airbnb or another booking platform, that platform’s cancellation and refund terms apply, and cancellations or changes must be made through the platform. Our rules about safety, the guide’s decisions and the activity itself still apply.
The illness and cruise non-call exceptions take priority over the standard cancellation deadlines and no-show rule where their conditions are met. Separately purchased trip-planning services follow Sections 22 and 23.
For cancellation instructions, timing and refund procedures, see our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
13. Illness
If an individual participant cannot take part because of illness, Nordfjord Wild will provide a 100% refund of the amount paid for that participant where reasonable documentation confirms that they were unable to participate on the booked date.
Only information needed to verify inability to participate is required. A detailed diagnosis or unrelated medical history is not required. Contact us before sending medical documentation so that we can explain what is needed and how to provide it.
The refund applies only to the affected participant’s applicable share of the booking price. Other participants remain booked unless they separately qualify for cancellation or a refund.
Please notify us as soon as reasonably possible. Personal information submitted for the request is handled under our Privacy Policy.
14. Cruise-ship bookings
If a booking is connected to a cruise visit and the customer’s ship does not call at the scheduled port on the booked date for any reason, the affected customer will receive a 100% refund for the booked activity.
This includes itinerary changes that remove the port call. We may request reasonable evidence of the ship, affected call and connection to the booking.
Providing the ship’s name in advance is helpful, but is not a condition of the guarantee if eligibility can otherwise be established.
A delay where the ship still calls at the scheduled port does not automatically qualify. Contact us promptly if a delay affects participation; we will try to find a practical solution.
15. Planned cruise-day departures and booking cutoff
On selected cruise-call days, bookings for planned departures may remain open until 45 minutes before the scheduled start.
Customers must be ready at the stated meeting point in time for departure. The activity cannot normally wait for late participants.
16. Minimum participant numbers
The following minimums apply to relevant planned group departures unless different conditions were disclosed and agreed for the booking:
- Ossætra Ridge Walk: 3 participants.
- Trollenykjen: 2 participants.
- Bjørneskarnakken: 4 participants.
We will try to keep customers informed if a departure may not reach its minimum. For planned cruise-day departures, cancellation for insufficient participants will be communicated no later than 45 minutes before the scheduled start.
If we cancel for this reason, customers may choose a 100% refund. An alternative activity or rescheduling may also be offered, but does not have to be accepted.
17. Cancellation by Nordfjord Wild
We may cancel where an activity cannot reasonably or safely be provided, including dangerous weather, unsafe conditions, access closures, guide illness, emergencies or insufficient participation.
If we cancel and the customer does not accept an alternative, the customer may choose:
- A 100% refund of the amount paid for the cancelled activity; or
- Rescheduling without an additional activity charge, subject to availability.
A reasonable minor adjustment under Section 9 is not a complete cancellation. The rights concerning material changes in Section 10 remain applicable.
18. Weather forecasts and customer preference
Rain, wind, cloud or an unfavourable forecast does not by itself mean an activity is unsafe.
If the booked activity can safely proceed, cancellation based on weather preference remains subject to the normal customer cancellation rules. This does not override the rights concerning a material change to the activity.
19. Customer-requested changes
Requests to change a date, participant name, participant number or activity are subject to availability.
Before a change is agreed, we will explain any additional payment, refund or applicable cancellation charge. A cancellation charge applies only where supported by the conditions already agreed for the booking.
If we cannot accommodate a requested change, the original booking remains in place unless the customer cancels under the applicable cancellation rules.
20. Right of withdrawal for dated outdoor activities
Guided hikes and other leisure activities booked for a specific date or period fall within the relevant exception to the ordinary statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act (angrerettloven).
The contractual cancellation rights in our Cancellation & Refund Policy still apply. Other mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
21. Trip-planning services
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, our trip-planning service provides personalised advice and itinerary planning. The purchased package or agreed quotation sets out its scope, deliverables and included revisions.
Any delivery deadline must be stated or agreed before the booking becomes binding. Delivery may depend on receiving the information reasonably needed from the customer.
Customers make and check their own accommodation, transport and other third-party bookings unless we expressly agree otherwise. Recommendations do not guarantee third-party availability, prices, opening hours or performance. We remain responsible for providing our own planning service with reasonable care and skill.
If we expressly agree to arrange additional travel services, applicable mandatory obligations depend on the actual arrangements and cannot be excluded by describing the service as advice.
22. Voluntary cancellation of trip-planning services
- Before we start work: 100% refund.
- After we start work: no voluntary refund is guaranteed.
After work starts, we may agree a full or partial refund, amendment or another solution, depending on the circumstances and work completed.
This voluntary policy does not override statutory withdrawal rights or remedies for a service that has not been provided as agreed.
23. Statutory withdrawal for trip-planning services
Consumers purchasing our separately supplied advisory trip-planning service online have a statutory right to withdraw without giving a reason within 14 days of the date the contract is concluded.
To withdraw, send a clear statement to info@nordfjordwild.no or our postal address. The deadline is met if the notice is sent before the withdrawal period expires.
We will begin work during the withdrawal period only if the customer expressly requests early performance. Paying for a package or submitting travel preferences does not by itself constitute that request.
If the customer validly withdraws before completion after requesting early performance, a proportionate amount for the service already supplied may be payable, but only where the statutory requirements have been met.
The withdrawal right ends after full performance during the withdrawal period only if the customer expressly requested early performance and acknowledged that full performance would end that right. Full performance includes all agreed obligations, including any outstanding revisions.
Reimbursement following valid statutory withdrawal will be made without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we receive the withdrawal notice, using the original payment method unless the customer expressly agrees otherwise, without a refund fee.
The complete procedure and a standard withdrawal form are included in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
24. Third-party services
Independent providers are responsible for services the customer purchases directly from them. Their own booking and cancellation conditions apply.
This does not exclude our responsibility for a service included in our own agreement or any responsibility arising under mandatory law.
25. Personal belongings
Participants should take reasonable care of their belongings. We are not responsible for loss, theft or damage unless it results from circumstances for which we are legally responsible.
26. Travel arrangements and other expenses
Customers are responsible for travel to and from the meeting point and for allowing suitable time around the activity.
A refund of the activity price does not automatically include separate travel, accommodation, cruise, vehicle-hire or other expenses. Any legal entitlement to compensation remains unaffected.
Customers are encouraged to consider travel insurance suitable for their plans and activities.
27. Liability
Nordfjord Wild will provide its services with reasonable care and skill and take reasonable measures to manage activity risks.
Responsibility for injury, loss, damage or delay is determined under applicable law, taking account of the circumstances and the conduct of those involved.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for our negligence where such exclusion is unlawful, or removes any mandatory right or remedy available to a consumer. Acknowledgement of outdoor risks does not release us from our legal duties.
28. Complaints
Please raise concerns with the guide or contact us as soon as reasonably possible so that we can investigate and try to put matters right. This request does not shorten any statutory complaint period.
Send written complaints to info@nordfjordwild.no.
If a consumer dispute cannot be resolved directly, the customer may seek mediation through Forbrukertilsynet. Further consideration by Forbrukerklageutvalget or another competent body depends on the dispute and the applicable procedure. Access to the courts remains available.
29. Privacy
Personal information is processed as explained in our Privacy Policy, including information needed for bookings, activity safety and illness-refund requests.
30. Applicable law
These Terms and bookings are governed by Norwegian law. This choice does not remove mandatory protections or jurisdiction rights available to consumers under other applicable law.
31. Changes to these Terms
The version accepted when a booking becomes binding applies to that booking. A later version applies to future bookings, unless a change to an existing booking is required by law or expressly agreed with the customer.
